Wood Floor Finishes

Lasting beauty requires minimal care with finishes of wood floors today. These finishes are usually urethanes and remain on the surface of the wood and forms a protective layer. Surfaces finishes are popular today because they are durable, water resistant and requires minimal maintenance. Different levels of brightness are available.

 
Types of Surface Finishes
 
Oil-modified urethane is easy to apply. It is a solvent-base polyurethane that dries in about eight hours. This type of Ambers arrival.
 
Moisture-cured urethane is solvent-based polyurethane which is more durable and more moisture resistant than other finishes. Moisture-cure urethane comes in non-yellowing and species of amber and is generally available in satin or gloss. These finishes are extremely difficult to implement, have a strong odor and is best left to professionals.
 
Conversion varnish dries clear to amber and is durable. These finishes have a very strong odor and should be applied by professionals highly qualified flooring.
 
Water-based urethane finish is clear and non yellowing. They smell fresh and dry in about two to three hours.
 
Penetrating and Wax - This finish soaks into the wood pores and hardens to form a protective penetrating seal. The wax gives a low luster satin.
